In the classroom or at home ........
The Genki English songs all have gestures and games to go with them, and
of course kids love pretending to be cars, boats and trains. Using music,
pictures and gestures makes sure as many of the kids as possible will remember
the English.
This question may seem tricky, but the main point of the song is to practise modes of transport. As with the sports song, the best way is to mime the actions of each form of transport. Also, the teacher can sing the first "I came here by….", then the kids sing the next two repeats.
It's even better if one group says the first repeat, then another group
says the second repeat ( whilst making the gesture of course!). See who
can sing the loudest. This motivates even the coolest 5th grade class.
Worksheet:
If you teach writing, a good activity is for the kids to look at the software
and write down the name of each vehicle on the worksheet. If not, you could
try the "Grand Prix Game" from the website. Enlarge pictures
of some of the vehicles and draw a race track on the board. Split the kids
into teams, one team for each vehicle. Play some music, whilst the music
is playing the kids pass a ball around. Stop the music. Ask the kid who
is holding the ball a question e.g. "How did you get here?" whilst
pointing at a picture of a car. If the kid can answer, their team's vehicle
can move one space along the racetrack! Play the music and try again! First
team to the winning line is the winner!

On the CD there is the music (if you put it into a normal CD player), and
the software section (if you put it in a suitable PC or Mac). As with the
other songs there is a fun pronunciation section for learning the words,
and this time a simple quiz!
