What time is it now?
This is perfectly correct English, but it has a very different meaning
to what you think it does. "What time is it now?" is only used
when you are comparing two times. For example you might say:
"What time is lunch?"
"12:30"
"Oh, what time is it now?"
If you just use it without talking about different times first it sounds
very strange. You wouldn't ask "What time is it yesterday?" would
you? "What time is it now?" sounds just as strange as that!
So what do you ask if you want to now the time now? Very simple, just leave off the “now”. Or to make it even better, try adding in an “Excuse me” before hand, in English it’s always better to be polite!
“Excuse me, what time is it?”
